From watching her scratch to helping others heal

It began with small patches on my daughter’s skin. Redness that came and went. Nights where sleep was broken by itching. Days spent trying to distract her from the urge to scratch.

We sought help and advice from many different professionals. Each offered a new perspective, a new solution, a new product to try. Some things helped for a while. Many didn’t. With so many options and opinions, it became confusing and overwhelming not knowing which path to follow.

Slowly I realised that what unsettled me most wasn’t just the eczema itself but how disconnected many of the solutions felt from the body it was trying to support — often looking at only one part of the problem rather than the root cause.

Turning back to nature

I grew up with a deep respect for nature and traditional remedies. Forest walks were not just leisure, they were grounding and a big part of my childhood. Trees, plants and resins were once our first medicine. Somewhere along the way, that wisdom was forgotten.

When my daughter’s skin was at its worst, I began reading everything I could. Not to replace medical advice, but to understand how the skin heals, how inflammation calms and how nature has supported this process for centuries. We also worked with a holistic naturopath who helped guide and support us, looking beyond the skin to nutrition, gut health, sleep and overall wellbeing alongside topical care.

I learned that healthy skin is not about fighting the body but supporting it inside and out. Protecting the skin barrier. Allowing the body to do what it is designed to do.

Small rituals, gentle support

Our approach shifted. Fewer products. Slower routines. Ingredients I could recognise and trust. We focused on nourishment rather than suppression, on soothing rather than forcing results.

Progress was not overnight. Healing rarely is. But over time her skin became calmer. Flares were less intense. Most importantly she was more comfortable in her own body.

That experience changed me.

From a personal journey to a shared purpose

Resinae was created because of my daughter but it is not only for her. It is my grandmother’s remedy renewed here in Aotearoa New Zealand and carried forward with the same care and intention.

It exists for parents sitting awake at night wondering if there is another way. For adults who have lived with compromised skin for years and feel they have tried everything. For anyone seeking a gentler more natural approach to supporting skin health.

Resinae is rooted in traditional wisdom and informed by modern understanding. It is designed to support the skin’s natural healing process, to soothe, protect and restore the barrier with simplicity and intention.

You are not alone

If there is one thing this journey has taught me, it is that healing is rarely linear and never identical for everyone. But support, education and gentleness go a long way.

If our story helps even one person feel less alone or encourages them to explore a more natural path alongside their existing care then it has served its purpose.

This is why Resinae exists. Not as a miracle cure but as a quiet support — drawn from the forest, made with care and offered to those who need it.
